Filming with The Amazings!

So I've spent the past couple of Fridays visiting a wonderful crafter, Helen (the lady in pink below!), up at her home in Sheffield where we've been collaborating on a project for The Amazings (that's Tara from The Amazings on the right). The Amazings offer fabulous online workshops taught by crafters with a wealth of experience and Helen and I worked together to plan a project that combined both our crafting passions. You can get a taster of the full workshop (which will be available in the next couple of weeks) here!

It was absolutely fascinating to visit Helen (and of course her adorable dog Judy, below!) and see the whole process of spinning and dying yarn going on in her home - from the fleece drying over her bath to the spinning wheel in her front room!

Helen taught me the process of space-dying yarn (a bit like a combination of cooking and painting!), then demonstrated the magic (and it really is like magic) of indigo dying. The Amazings team caught it all on camera, along with Helen and I having a good old chat and finding so much in common (about craft, life and herbal tea!).

Finally, I got to use some of Helen's gorgeous naturally dyed yarns to make some textile jewellery specially designed for the video workshop - so if you fancy learning about dying and spinning yarn, and following our special textile jewellery workshop, watch this space for the release of the video at The Amazings
